Ingredient Glossary
Squalane
What does it do?
Natural Squalane is a 100% plant-based emollient that absorbs in the lipidic layer of your skin to provide intense moisturisation and helps to protect against moisture loss. It can also help to improve skin suppleness, leaving the skin with a glow and feeling soft to the touch.
Where does it originate from?
Natural Squalane is derived from Olive Oil (which is what we use at Q+A). However, it can also be animal-derived from shark liver.
When should I use it?
This ingredient can be used day and night. When used alone as a restorative facial oil, it's best used 2-3 times per week.
What skin type is it best suited to?
Squalane is suitable for all skin types. If your skin is dry or stressed, it's a great ingredient to incorporate into your routine.
What does it work well with?
Squalane works well with Vitamin C.
What else do I need to know?
Squalane is a non-comedogenic ingredient, meaning it won't clog pores.
It's also a multifunction ingredient that can be used in place of a moisturiser, as a treatment product, or as a protective hair serum.
