Prebiotics

What does it do?

Prebiotics help to rebalance the skin microbiome, which can be disrupted by environmental stressors (such as UV radiation, temperature, air pollution, cosmetics, etc). Skincare products, especially ones formulated with chemical exfoliants such as acids, can sometimes affect your microbiome. So, it's important to incorporate prebiotics into your skincare routine to rebalance your skin's microbiome and, in turn, help prevent sensitivity issues due to a potentially compromised skin barrier.

Where does it originate from?

Prebiotics occur naturally in whole grains, vegetables and fruits. We use Chicory Root extracted Prebiotics, which are capable of selectively feeding probiotics (good bacteria) on the skin to restore balance to the skin's microbiome.

When should I use it?

Prebiotics can be used day and night.

What skin type is it best suited to?

Prebiotics are suitable for all skin types as everyone's skin deserves to exist in a healthy, stable balance.

What does it work well with?

Prebiotics work well alongside antioxidants, such as Ascorbic Acid (Vitamin C), to help improve skin barrier function and, as a result, protect the skin and reduce irritation/sensitivity.
