Q+A Loves: Rose's regime for normal and blemish prone skin

A:

Hello friends! Welcome back to Q+A Loves, and our newest dive into the routine of one of our lovely Q+A community members! If you missed our last edition, Lucy was giving us her rundown for dry and sensitive skin, so check that out! And today, another lovely team member joins me, so let’s hear from Rose…

Tell us a little about yourself, and your place in Team Q+A

Hey 👋 I’m Rose, and I’m Q+A’s Brand Marketing Associate. I’m 22 and have been part of the team for just over a year! My job varies from day-to-day, but it tends to involve a lot of digital marketing and social media. I’m a massive foodie so love eating out, and when I’m not getting lost in SkinTok, I like to go to the gym and online shop!

How would you describe your skin type and your skin concerns?

I tend to say I have normal, blemish-prone skin. I don’t particularly struggle with dryness or oiliness, but my skin is quite sensitive and often breaks out. I’m still not entirely sure what causes my breakouts as they tend to be pretty random but having a good skincare regime definitely seems to help! As well as reducing the appearance of blemishes and hyperpigmentation, a main focus of mine is to keep my skin looking hydrated and glowy.

Do you have any tips for those with the same skin type?

Be patient with your skin, change won’t happen overnight! Try to have a consistent skincare regime to avoid breakouts from new products, and use an exfoliating product twice a week to help with any hyperpigmentation from blemishes.

What is your Q+A routine now?

In the morning I use my trusty Hyaluronic Acid Hydrating Cleanser and a damp face cloth to wash my face, before misting my skin with Green Tea Toner (tip: replace your toner lid with a spray pump for a more sustainable, quicker application!). Whilst my skin is still damp, I apply a couple of drops of Hyaluronic Acid Serum and finish off with a small amount of Zinc PCA Moisturiser and an SPF. This creates the perfect glowy base for makeup!

In the PM, I melt away my makeup with the Grapefruit Cleansing Balm and follow with the Hyaluronic Acid Hydrating Cleanser (the best double cleanse duo in my opinion!). Like in the morning, I spray my face with Green Tea Toner and then wait for this to dry before applying the brand-new Vitamin C Brightening Serum – I love this! I then use Chamomile Night Cream which I find calms any angry blemishes overnight and nourishes my complexion without leaving it feeling too oily. Twice a week, I use the Apple AHA Exfoliating Gel to brighten my complexion, reduce hyperpigmentation and smooth my skin.

Do you have a favourite product?

It has to be the Grapefruit Cleansing Balm- it’s my holy grail product. It makes removing makeup so much easier and doesn’t irritate my skin or eyes unlike other makeup removers I’ve used in the past. It leaves my skin feeling hydrated and not too oily.

Have you ever made any skincare faux pas?

I’ve definitely tried too many new products in the past without checking the ingredients and broke out or reacted badly to them, damaging my skin and making it dry. I’ve learnt that my skin prefers natural ingredients that are good for sensitive skin!
